Momentous Occasions

Big Daddy and I are having a Date Night tonight. As in, we are going to leave the house and do fun adult stuff without the kids. This is all happening courtesy of the lovely Mr & Mrs McKinney, who are going to snatch the kids up for a sleepover.

First, el esposo and I are going to Mi Casa's, a Mexican buffet place. As a native Southwesterner, I find Mexican food here in the Southeast to be pretty disappointing, but he assures me that I will like their food. Since it is a buffet and I have given up all hope of finding a real chili relleno this side of Texas, I am giving him the benefit of the doubt.

After that, we're going to see The Hangover. Then, we'll swing by B&N to spend the $50 gift card my Mamasan sent me for my Birthday.

Very excited are we.

Bad Mommy, Good Mommy?

So yesterday we were brainstorming on what to have for dinner today, and we happened to see that today was going to be the hottest day so far this year. So this is what we opted to have for dinner today....

There's no guilt in desert, if its what's for dinner. Right?

Diabetes. Schmiabetes. Hopefully, this gets me Awesome Mommy credit. I'm saving up my points so I can get the kids to set Big Daddy and me up in one those good nursing homes. You know, the ones where they change your adult diaper more than once a day, and they don't steal your stuff.

And because I know you're wondering....Yes, it was hot as Satan's buttcrack today, and the banana splits were DELICIOUS!

Good on Ya, Pittsburgh!

My boys did it! It was great series, despite the whining you may hear coming from Detroit fans, and I was fully expecting the whining. As soon as it was clear that Pittsburgh could actually pull off the game 7 win, I was wondering what loser rationalization we were going to hear out of the Motor City.
I was, however, surprised to see this. Do we root for teams based on how hard up their towns are?
Don't misread me, the Red Wings are a great team, but Pittsburgh hasn't exactly had the rosiest of outlooks lately either. I suppose that the rationale is that, if you already have a winning football team, you don't deserve another successful franchise. Iron City has been feeling the crunch since our steel market hit the crapper in the early 90's, and they've been hustling their butts off to revive and diversify their economy. The success of the Steelers and the Penguins is well deserved by its city....Now, if the Pirates suddenly turn themselves around, that may be pushing it a little...
Congratulations Pittsburgh! You have a great hockey team!

Dug this up from somewhere

I know you're all wondering the same thing I am...Would it still meet W.P.B Requirements if the bunny weren't in it?

The marketing executives must've been channeling Elmer Fudd when they dreamed this one up.

Mr & Mrs McKinney

The sister-in-law got herself hitched a couple of weeks ago, and all of us here at Casa de Thompson were invited to take part in the ceremony. Big Daddy was a groomsman, Mister Monkey was a ring bearer, Miss Goat was a flower girl, and Miss Bear and I were bride's maids.

Requests have been issued from Interested Parties for photos from the wedding. Here are a few that Uncle David took:

Big Daddy, looking quite debonair in his tux, with his cousin Josh.

Notice, one has hair on top his head and the other has his hair on the bottom of his head. Delightfully backwards, us Thompsons.

Mister Monkey is patiently waiting for the darn picture-taking to be done already, thank you very much.

Also, looks quite the cutie in his tux. He was very impressed with how big it made his shoulders look.

Miss Bear, looking very pretty indeed, with Aunt Ginger.

You can't see enough of it to appreciate, but Bear's hair was absolutely gorgeous!

We love Aunt Ginger! She's always a hoot.

It was hard to pin Miss Goat down long enough to get a picture of her in her dress, but here she is with cousin Rachel.

If you don't know better, Miss Goat looks very much like an angel.

Rachel plays basketball and has the awesome legs to prove it.

I was a little hard to pin-down myself, as I was doing my best social butterfly, but there's me on the left.

Yes, I managed to squeeze all of my glorious self into that dress.

Yes, those are flip-flops. After the ceremony, we all ditched our heels so we could party proper.

Finally, here are the Mr and Mrs.

It was hard for the photo-plebes to get a good photo of the bride and groom, because the real photographer didn't want anyone taking free versions of what she was charging a small fortune for.

But a lovely photo none-the-less.

And a lovely wedding.

And the new Mrs. McKinney's gown was just utterly beautiful.

My brand new baby blog

Well, I decided the only thing my life was missing (besides a comfortable living wage) was one more thing for me to neglect, so I made myself a shiny new blog. See?

Mostly I figure this could be handy for keeping Interested Parties up-to-date on our doings here at lovely Casa de Thompson. As well as, give myself a platform through which to impart my time-earned wisdom and mindless rambling to the masses (those who drop by here on accident).

Enjoy.
